မွတ္ခ်က္။ အမည္မသိစာေရးသူ

The December Snow

When it started snowing in December 18, 2009, I was at work and there, my teammates were talking about the coming heavy snow. I did not pay attention much about the falling snow until my supervisor asked me if I wanted to go home early. My teammate told me that he will leave soon because the snow is keep falling and it could be worse when in the morning. The forecast aired that the snow could hit around 20 inches. He warned me to go home and suggest the snow will make the road slipper and dangerous. Last year, I was with a gospel group traveling to Frederick Church when it first snowed and there, the midst of our trip, we were stuck for four hours because of accident ahead us. I saw a lot of cars crashed here and there.

As I am new in the US, I do not have any experiences driving in the snow. So I decided to go home early to avoid more snow falling. It was 3:00am in the midnight, when I left my work. The hazardous snow was continually falling down on the ground and other teammates were prepared to go home too. I put extra caution as start driving in the snow, a slippery road for the first time. I started rolling my wheels slowly in order to have full control of my car from skidding. More, the view was not clear and I could see things very well. There were almost like no cars on the road except some cars from my work. It was so quiet and ironically I felt the smell of danger. When I approached to I-695, my heart beating was faster and I prayed to God to keep me away from all kind of dangers.

My prayer was answered, just before I entered I-695, the snow mover trucks were there and about to start their job. As they began cleaning the unwanted snow, I followed them behind. My worries had dropped a bit. But not very long, there were two big trucks approaching me from both lane and I was so scared for being in between the big trucks and I almost lost my control. I tried to focus on the road with extra cares. I usually drive to work for 25 minutes with 65 mph on I-695 but that day I drove below 20 mph and it took me an hour to get home.

Literally, that day was bad day for me. I was so scared. Finally, I got home safely. As I did pray, God protected me and blessed me.
